I attended an American football match live for the first time today. St. Louis Rams beat the Arizona Cardinals after a comeback in an exciting fight that was decided in the last two minutes.
It.s my first visit to St.Louis and to Missouri. Having opened the Chess Club and Scholastic center of Saint Louis, moved the World Chess Hall of Fame to St. Louis and staged five US Championships in a row, Rex and Jeanne Sinquefield have really put St.Louis on the chess map both in the US and globally.
Earlier this week I of course followed the final of the World Cup taking place in Tromsoe and attended a media day organised in the offices of one of my main sponsors Arctic Securities.
Arriving on the 5th in St.Louis, I.ve had time to acclimatize and I really like everything so far.
During the drawing of lots yesterday I was back to my 2010 habit of drawing no 1 so that I.m white against Gata Kamsky in round 1 of the 4-player double round robin starting Monday at 1pm local time (8pm Norwegian time). Nakamura has white against Aronian in the other game.
This is my last tournament prior to the World Championship match in Chennai in November, and I look forward to the event.
