After a week in New York I spent some 30 hours at home, asleep most of the time, before heading for Khanty-Mansiysk, Siberia and the Olympiad at GMT+5. I start to understand the term Globetrotter.
Following the Raw World Chess Challenge on the 10th I thoroughly enjoyed the G-star fashion week Runway show and interview sessions on the 14th.
On the 15th I played a simul for Arctic Securities in Houston hotel close to Central Park against (Wall street) clients and contacts. The location and the organization of the event were absolutely first class and I enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere. Some very decent-playing opponents made me concentrate (nearly) all the way through to score 13 wins and a draw (against J. Crumiller).
Despite all the fun in New York, I really look forward to a string of heavy tournaments. With the Olympiad, Bilbao and Nanjing, I´ll be playing and traveling more or less non-stop throughout October.
The hotel in Khanty looks quite okay, and the weather is fine.
Thumbs up for the Norwegian team tomorrow.
